We would like to take you on a short journey to Nacolcol. A small village in Zambales, which was hit hard by the Pinatubo-eruption in 1991. The people of Nacolcol have somehow manage to overcome all the odds and under extreme circumstances. They live a hard live and are in need of help. BOTOLAN WILDLIFE FARM is helping the villagers. We are planning to provide Nacolcol with water supply by installing a water pipeline leading from the forest into the village center. This pipeline will ensure clean, reliable and convenient water supply.

The below images should illustrate our last visit and inspection of the current situation. Thorough planning is required, if this project is to become a success.

This is Nacolcol. A village stricken by poverty and destitude. The villagers are coping with drought and other shortcomings. As we approach the village, it becomes clear what is needed most urgently.

And we are going to work with them to achieve what we are planning to do.

A group photo of the villagers. They are very friendly and appreciative. Their hospitality is second to none, eventhough they cannot offer much. They share with us what they have.

We are discussing our project with the village mayor and get ready for our expedition to the spring up in the forest gorge.

Mount Pinatubo

A girl is watching us. Their curiosity suprises us ever more. Children need water to thrive and grow. Water is of short supply.

Motivation enough to change this permanently.

Helpers at hand. Martin (left on the image) discusses the most important steps of the projects. This is 'hands on' stuff and not just mere talk.

The treck to the spring, hard work just to get there. Imagine you have to carry the water down with your bare hands. Every day. Twice or even three times through the undergrowth of the forest.

Our small expedition team are not used to this exhausting trip and have to stop a few times to catch their breath.

Our photographer Thomas on the mission. With his camera he captured some great images. Despite the obvious strain of the hike he still manages to smile.

Thanks for the photos Tom !

Finally, the arrival at the spring. Hardly surprising, there is very little water.

Botolan Wildlife Farm will ensure that no water is wasted. An important goal for this project. Martin (third from right) with his friends and the villagers. We want to include and engage every inhabitant of Nacolcol. It is their village and their project.

A closer look at the spring. To utilize 'every drop' is worthwile.

And this is what we are trying to achieve. Not just drinking water should be brought into the village more efficiently. Irrigation is key for sustainable plantation.

The people of Nacolcol are largerly self sufficient. Banana plants are just one example of their agricultural produce.

They also grow rice and sweet potatoes.

We at BWF want to ensure that the villagers can irrigate and fertilize their plantation efficiently. This will increase production and contribute to the wellbeing of the village and the economy of the local area.

Thomas took a snapshot of a tree in the village center. It symbolises the fertility of the soil, if there is enough water.

Builders may use a brick for the foundation of a new building. This tree represents the foundation of a great project.

Nacolcol does not just need water. We are also involved in providing medical support and advice to the village. Tools and 'know how' are also being provided.

BWF want to thank everyone who has been and will be part of this untertaking. Their contribution, financially and motivationally is very much appreciated !!
